(Via TokyoMango) Studio Ghibli and Nippon Television collaborated to unveil this gigantic clock--designed by legendary anime director Hayao Miyazaki--in front of the TV station's headquarters last week.
Miyazaki is the man behind the magic of Spirited Away, which won the Best Animated Feature Oscar in 2003. And all his other films are fucking awesome too.
The clock is themed after the one we saw in Howl's Moving Castle.
In 1983, young Hideki Anno had just completed a masterpiece promo for the 22nd anime, comic, and Sci-Fi convention in Osaka, Japan. That work went on to be known as DAICON IV.
8 feet long, 3 feet wide. Connects to the original Nintendo Entertainment System!
Hi all! I know most of you are on break now, so your anime time has increased right? I've just added 12 episodes of Mujin Wakusei Survive anime to Ani-Pock.
In the future, most of mankind lives in artificial space colonies, climate-controlled and completely safe. The orphan girl Luna, selected to receive a scholarship at the prestigious Soria Academy, finds herself in quite different circumstances. An excursion gone terribly awry leads to Luna and her classmates being stranded on an uninhabited planet. Without any experience of untamed nature, the motley crew is faced with a challenging struggle to stay alive until rescue comes. If it comes..
Death Note Anime Episode 11 has been added to the Death Note section. Please let me know if you encounter any problems by leaving a comment on this post.
Hiyo!~ Minna-san! It looks like the "Reveal Ani-Pock Community" game is in full swing now. Thanks all for playing and thanks for making the game look spiffy Pocky. It's been really fun to read the questions and answers, and I wonder who'll be next. XD Anyway, I was also thinking about some sort of contest, but I'll let you guys decide what you want to do. ^.^ I'm just throwing this out there to see if anyone is interested and if they are what kind of contest do they want? Here are just some ideas, a drawing contest, an AMV contest, Ani-Pock layout design contest, just I don't know something fun to think about since all of you other people on here have a nice christmas break. I feel for those who only have Christmas off for a break. *huggles Chikyuu* At least we share the pain on this one, right Chikyuu? ^_~
Here is a Flikr photo set I found with 70 photos from this recent con!
Kira and I were wondering how to say Bird in Japanese so I found this list! 24 animals translated here. Click the names to hear the correct pronounciation!
Christmas fashion in Japan? I don't know!!! Help Kami!
(Via Japanprobe) Here’s a report on the store from Real Time News earlier this week:
According to Dani over at Random Musings From Tokyo, Krispy Kreme was offering 50 dozen free donuts over the next year to the first customer who bought a doughnut on opening day.
The report was filmed before the official opening day, so the reporter was given a special sneak preview of the store. Of particular interest was Krispy Kreme’s famous original glazed donut, which has recipe that only a handful of people on earth know. One of the men who knows the super-secret recipe, Jim Smith, was on hand to help the Japanese store staff prepare their initial batch of doughnuts. After a few tries, they are able to make doughnuts that are up to Jim’s standards, so they decide to go out on the streets and give out free boxes of doughnuts to passerbys. A huge line of interested people quickly formed, obviously happy to get their hands on a free box of thickly-glazed doughnuts. The news casters seemed to have bought into the hype by basically endorsing the new product by gorging down on them in the studio.
A whole breakfast ready in 10 minutes! Details:
This Japanese kitchen appliance lets you make toast, fried eggs, and coffee all in one go, without having to worry about micromanaging two stove top burners and a coffeemaker. It is lovingly called the "Wake Up Morning Set," and--in case you care--expends 1140W of energy when all three functions are in play.
It's pretty simple to use. Just pop a slice of bread in the toaster and twist the timer to the desired burntness. Then put some ground coffee bean in the filter and switch that part on. To fry your egg, simply flick the other toaster switch, crack your egg, and the heat from the toaster will start to warm up the metal plate on top. The whole breakfast takes about 10 minutes tops to make.
This is mainly for Rin, one of the few people that actually have a Nintendo Wii! This is also a warning for people that play Wii with Rin XD

Now YOU can be a cell phone strap icon, too! Select a figurine from several clothing and body type options--a kimono, a monkey from ancient Chinese folklore, a sheep, a forune-bringing ceramic cat, or an afro-sporting, bell-bottom wearing soul train dancer--and order it from Rakuten.
A faceless figurine will be delivered to your house a few days later. Then, take a photograph of yourself--or your baby, or your dog, or your girlfriend, or your boss, or whoever--and send it to the manufacturer for resizing. Seven to ten days later, you'll get the picture back in a 3D, face-fitting format that you can snap into the figurine.

A Wii may be out your budget, or perhaps they’ve all sold out where you are, but Strap-ya has come to the rescue with a W11, their version of Nintendo’s console as a mobile phone strap.
Not only does the strap look amazing, but it also can be used as a whistle (for security). Its supposed to make a "wiiiiii" sound. Get it? XD
The W11 is available now for 589 yen ($5/£2.60).
Hiyo!~ This is Rin X3 I know a lot of people have been stressed out lately, with exams, and life in general so take a few moments relax and watch these AMV's. The song's are awesome *dances* and hopefully they relieve your minds a little. With <3.
Okay if you've ever played street fighter, you might enjoy this! In this clip, which is apparently from a live tournament, the player behind Ken blocks Chun Li's kicks individualy and with PERFECT timing!! (Its nearly impossible during a combo)
Pocky here! This is the last call to submit your avatar for the Holiday card.
Hi all! I don't know if I have posted this before, but here is a very cool Japanese music video that uses a stop motion/freeze technique with a bunch of actors that are supposed to look like the same person. Kind of hard to describe. Just watch!
The same director more recently did a commercial for Coca Cola:
Yes right.....here! Anime News Network description:
Light Yagami (Or Raito) is an ace student with great aspects who's bored out of his mind. One day he finds the Death Note a notebook held by a shinigami (Death God). with the Death Note in hand, Light decides to create a perfect world. A world without crime or criminals. However when criminals start dropping dead one by one, the authorites send the legendary detective L to track down the killer.
Okay! I finally got the new Art Gallery system down, so I uploaded all the cool art you guys have been sending in! Keep sending them in to: pocky@ani-pock.net. If you don't know how to take a screen shot, read: Windows or Mac instructions.

Everyone’s favourite 3-letter company NEC, (no-one likes JVC), has developed the ShieldPro waterproof laptop. The FC-N21S notebook can also withstand temperatures as cold as -20 degrees Celsius, and can be dropped from a height of 90cm. NEC say the 2.5kg machine will go on sale in January for 300,000 yen (£1,326/$2,607).
Pocky here! This is a clip from a Japanese gameshow. In this clip the contestants have to put a rubberband around their head (the other end attached to the wall) and try to eat marshmellows hanging out on farther reaching strings. Watch!
The little Hello Kitty figurine you see here is $163,778.163 U.S. dollars! It is made of Platnium...
Hey all! I would like to make a "Holiday Card" for Ani-Pock this year.
(Via BBspot) Tokyo, Japan – Nintendo turned a lot of heads with their new wireless game controller that uses motion sensors to direct action on the screen. A growing problem, however, losing their grip on the controller and throwing them through their TVs or injuring others...
...Kids in Japan have taken the innovative approach of using superglue to attach the Wii-mote to their hands. Parents see the approach as silly and dangerous, but teens in Japan see being Wii-handed as a status symbol.
"I like the Wii controller permanently on my hand. I never have to search for it, and the other kids think it is cool," said Yugi Tamagotchi of Tokyo.
